Edwina Kruizinga — Adult Speech Pathologist, Sunshine Coast

Edwina is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) registered with Speech Pathology Australia. She is someone who has spent years helping people to regain, rediscover and reconnect with their ability to communicate — in all its forms.
Her special interest is in providing speech, language, swallow and voice assessment, advice and rehabilitation for adults with aphasia and other acquired neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, dementia and traumatic brain injuries.
Edwina also has a strong passion for supporting the neurodivergent community, including adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and intellectual impairment. She provides structured, evidence-based speech and language therapy, communication and social skills training tailored to each person’s unique strengths and needs.

Certified SPEAK OUT!® Provider
Certified provider of the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program developed by Parkinson Voice Project®, helping people with Parkinson’s and related disorders regain and retain their speech, voice and swallowing.
Certified PEERS® Provider
Certified PEERS Provider, trained through UCLA under the guidance of clinical psychologist Dr Elizabeth Laugeson, who developed the program.
Community Services
Regular visits to Sunshine Coast nursing homes for communication, voice and swallow assessment and rehabilitation. Dysphagia training for nursing and allied health staff.
The Sing Thing
Together with her musical director, Edwina runs The Sing Thing — a weekly singing, voice and swallow strengthening group for people with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.
A Unique Background
Before entering the field of speech pathology, Edwina trained and worked as a professional actor, landing various roles in film, theatre, and television productions, including the film Rabbit-Proof Fence; the television productions All Saints, Water Rats, and GP; and telemovies including Wildside, BlackJack, Blood Brothers, Mary Bryant, Harrow and Heartland. Edwina was also involved in various theatre productions with the Sydney Theatre Company and the State Theatre Company in Adelaide.
Her work as a Speech Pathologist is grounded in evidence-based practice, combined with expertise in voice and performance. Alongside her rich life experience, genuine enthusiasm, and empathy, she tailors her approach to each individual — giving her a unique perspective across all areas of communication.
Edwina is committed to helping clients maximise their communication and swallow potential through innovative therapy programs that meet each person’s needs and goals.
Additional Services
Edwina also supports clients with workplace communication, public speaking, job interview preparation, and acting coaching — drawing on her combined expertise in speech pathology and professional performance.
